Your dedicated
event manager
Hello world!
I'm Amy Gibson, Event Manager and Virtual Assistant
About me
I've been managing events all over the world for ten years, working independently across projects from international development conferences and workshops to UK-based charity events and festivals.
I work with global leaders for good
I have been event manager of two annual flagship conferences of IIED for a decade; the Community-Based Adaptation to Climate Change Conference (CBA) and the Development and Climate Days at COP. In 2020 I was project manager of Climate:Red, the first global virtual summit by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), and in 2022 I coordinated the first Heat Action Day which saw over 50 #BeatTheHeat flashmobs in public spaces around the world. Last year I produce three hybrid events at New York Climate Week and supported the first ever learning event of the Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance at Warwick University.
I believe events can change the world
In 2015 I founded the Pier2Pier Beach Clean, which held the famous "Silent Disco Beach Cleans" in Brighton for five years. Through Pier2Pier I was part of the team behind the 2019 official Brighton Pride beach clean and was nominated for a Keep Britain Tidy award. The same year, I curated and coordinated the International Women's Day festival at Brighton Dome on behalf of Brighton Women's Centre, named in Elle Magazine's Top 10 IWD events.
Events have always been my bag
Before building my own business my roles included Production Assistant for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Closing Ceremonies, Event Director at the Louise Blouin Foundation in Notting Hill, and Event Manager for the top Sussex wedding caterer, Circa Events.
Let's make
great events
I support inspiring people
I added Virtual Assistant to my belt in 2021 to support inspiring small business leaders across arts, events, leisure, wellness and social enterprise. I coordinated the first series of the Movers, Shakers and Changemakers podcast from The Joyful (Now Electric Peach) and helped to launch The Advice Line from the The Fair where the next generation of the festival industry can get free advice from industry professionals.
I'm not all business
I'm an award-winning cabaret performer, producer of the Brighton cabaret brunch, Smashed Cabarado and founding member of a brand new drag king boyband!
I'm always learning
Last year I completed a 'Disability Equality Training for Live Events' certification through Attitude is Everything and Falmouth University, and this year I will complete training as a Laughter Yoga Leader!
Wherever you are,
let's chat.
